Gold & Silver Testing Pricing

Pricing is based on the total weight of gold or silver tested during your visit, or you can choose a 1-hour unlimited testing session. Payment is due at the time of service.

Gold Testing – Single Coin/Bar

Sigma Metalytics non-destructive test for up to 1 oz of gold during your visit. Great if you have one piece you want checked for peace of mind.

$20 Up to 1 oz gold total

Gold Testing – Up to 5 oz

Non-destructive testing for multiple gold coins or bars, up to a total of 5 oz in one session.

$50 Up to 5 oz gold total

Gold Testing – Up to 10 oz

For larger personal holdings. We'll test up to 10 oz of gold coins and bars during your appointment.

$100 Up to 10 oz gold total

Silver Testing – Up to 40 oz

Sigma Metalytics testing for up to 40 oz of silver coins, rounds, or bars. Ideal for a few tubes of silver or several 10 oz bars.

$50 Up to 40 oz silver total

Unlimited Testing – 1 Hour Session

Need to go through a lot of items? Book a dedicated 1-hour testing block. During that time we'll test as many gold and silver pieces as reasonably possible.

$200 Per hour of testing

Note: Sigma Metalytics is a powerful screening tool, but no testing method can detect every possible counterfeit or alteration. We do not provide formal written appraisals or grading services.

How a Testing Appointment Works

1. Schedule Your Appointment

Call (617) 564-1630 or use our contact form to request a gold and silver testing time. Let us know roughly how much you plan to bring so we can suggest the right option.

2. Bring Your Items and ID

On your appointment day, bring your coins, bars, or bullion along with a valid photo ID. All testing is done in person at our Brockton office.

3. Sigma Metalytics Testing

We'll test your items with our Sigma Metalytics analyzer and explain the readings as we go. You stay with your pieces the entire time and can ask questions along the way.

4. Your Decision – No Pressure

Once testing is complete, what you do next is up to you. Keep your items, sell them elsewhere, or simply hold onto them with more confidence. Testing appointments are about information – not sales pressure.

Yes. Sigma Metalytics testing is non-destructive. We do not drill, cut, file, or intentionally scratch your coins or bars as part of this service. The analyzer reads through the surface and compares the result to the expected range for that metal and purity.

Do I need to buy or sell anything with you?

No. This page and these services are specifically for testing. You are paying for our time and the use of our equipment so you can better understand what you own. There is no requirement to buy or sell gold or silver when you book testing.

Do you work with the public or only dealers?

We work directly with the public – individuals, families, and collectors who want their metals checked. We do not operate as a refinery service, and this page is not intended for wholesale dealer testing.
