3. The machine sends a small electromagnetic signal through the metal and takes both a surface reading and a “thru” reading.
4. The screen shows two bars. When both readings stay inside the green band for that metal, the result is consistent with genuine gold or silver. Readings outside the band tell us the piece needs more investigation (weight, dimensions, or other checks).
5. In many cases the Sigma Metalytics Pro can read through common plastic holders, cases, and slabs, so we often do not need to open sealed packaging.
